Welcome by Betty Shaw
Kim Garrard added a discussion on the suspension of school to the Agenda and then the Agenda was approved unanimously.
The minutes from the PTSA meeting held on February 20, 2020 were emailed to board members prior to the meeting. The minutes were approved unanimously.
Kimberly Garrard gave the Treasurer’s report and Betty Shaw made two corrections to the report including a $500 deposit from Willow Springs Elementary and an additional deposit of $74.28 bringing the total balance on had to $1068.87. The Treasurer’s report was then passed unanimously.
Betty Shaw asked Julie Moore to send a thank you note to Zupas thanking them for providing meals for CTA faculty and teachers for March’s Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Kim Garrard suggested that Google meetings be held with the CTA teachers and students in order to help their social skills and provide interaction with the teachers and students. Nate indicated he would communicate with the teachers and make the Google meetings happen.
Betty informed the board that we have PTSA memberships of 37 for now and in the future we will work on getting more memberships.
Due to the cancellation of school, field trips are not currently an option. Brooke Heumann reported that on the CTA Facebook page, virtual field trips were being added and possibly YouTube videos on crossing streets safely as well as other possibilities.
Teacher Appreciation is usually held during the 1st week of May. With the cancellation of school it was discussed that this could be moved to July and we need to be flexible. Kim suggested a letter be sent to each teacher from the PTSA board thanking them for all they do since parents have a greater appreciation for teachers due to home schooling.
There are 13 seniors who will be graduating at the end of this school year. There are no plans for a graduation celebration night this year. The question was asked if we could postpone the graduation celebration for another time such as August. Nate indicated this could be a possibility. There will be no money coming from Salt Lake County for a safe graduation night this year.
Betty announced to the board that the PTA Convention scheduled for May in Provo had been cancelled but there would be different options for training. More information will be coming.
Nate gave the final words and expressed his appreciation on feedback on web contacts and graduation celebrations. If anyone has any further feedback, Nate would like to be contacted.
The next meeting was scheduled for Thursday, April 23, 5:00 pm via Google meetings.
